The facade of the building is an interpretation of the great mosque in Damascus in Syria. The original mosque was richly decorated with plant mosaic tiles, and a classical roof pediment supported by Corinthians column with arched colonnades - an architectural language borrowed from roman architecture. The architectural elements were then adopted and used in the design in the great mosque. The design sought to use and adopt some of the facade treatment from the great mosque of Damascus on its front elevation to reflect early Assyrian Islamic architecture.
